TIGERS BACK OUT ON ROAD THIS WEEKEND
The Colorado College women's soccer team plays a couple of matches in the state of Nevada this weekend. The Tigers play at UNLV on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m. (MT), then at Nevada on Sunday, Oct. 23, beginning at 1 p.m. (MT).
LAST TIME OUT
The Tigers fell to Wyoming, 2-1, and defeated Colorado State, 1-0, last week in the final matches of the season at Stewart Field. On Thursday, Wyoming's Jamie Tatum scored twice in the second half, including the game-winning goal with 2:10 remaining.
Shalom Prince got the home crowd going with her fourth goal of the season to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute.
Kaelin Enga sent a corner kick into the box and Prince headed it past Cowgirl goalkeeper Myuki Schoyen. The Cowgirls came out strong in the second half and Tatum evened the score in the 66th minute when she fired a rocket from 30 yards out that eluded Tiger keeper
Ally Wakeman and found the upper right corner of the net. Wakeman, who finished the game with eight saves, made three stops down the stretch before Tatum struck in the 88th minute. Tatum took a pass from Eliza-Grace Smith, who assisted on the first goal as well, dribbled to her right and scored from the top of the box ... On Sunday, Enga made sure CC's six seniors won their final home game at Stewart Field. She scored the game's lone goal and was a major factor in the middle third of the field for 90 minutes. The sophomore from Colorado Springs took a pass from
Erin Ewers, moved to the middle of the field and fired a rocket from 25 yards out that eluded CSU goalkeeper Emilie Gavillet in the 43rd minute. Enga's second game-winning goal of the season (the other in a 2-1 victory over Bucknell) moved the Tigers into the sixth and final playoff spot in the Mountain West standings with three games to play.
