Tigers Host Nevada and UNLV This Week
The Colorado College women's soccer team returns home for a pair of Mountain West matches this week. The Tigers face Nevada on Thursday, Oct. 5, beginning at 6 p.m., then UNLV on Sunday, Oct. 8, at noon, both at Stewart Field. Sunday is Senior Day and three Tiger seniors will be recognized in a post-match ceremony. Both matches will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network and CCTigers.com.
Last Time Out
The Tigers posted their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over New Mexico last Thursday night in Albuquerque.
Kaelin Enga and
Alexis Wessler scored in the first half and
Regan Wallace made 10 saves. Enga opened the scoring with her first goal of the season in the 29th minute. She took a pass from
Alex Sandoval on the left side, moved to the middle and fired a shot into the upper right corner over UNM goalkeeper Alli Davis. The Tigers doubled the lead in the 41st minute thanks Wessler's first career goal. The senior defender blasted a shot from 20 yards to the upper right corner past Davis. On Sunday,
Lily Byrne converted a penalty kick and Wallace had a career-high 15 saves, but the Tigers fell to San Diego State, 3-1. Byrne evened the game in the 58th minute, but the Aztecs struck twice in less than three minutes later in the half.
Second Year For Head Coach Keri Sanchez
Keri Sanchez was named the eighth head coach in the history of the school's Division I women's soccer program in December of 2021. Sanchez, who won four NCAA National Championships as a player at the University of North Carolina, led the Tigers to a 7-7-5 record and their first appearance in the Mountain West Tournament since 2018. She brought 25 years of coaching experience to Colorado Springs that spans Division I and Division III. During her standout professional career, Sanchez played at the highest level. She notched 13 caps with the United States Women's National Team and played in the first-ever World Cup qualifying tournament in 1991.

Colorado College is 1-9-1 overall and 1-3 in Mountain West action entering this week's matches. Nevada is 4-4-5 overall and 2-1-1 in league play after tying Fresno State, 1-1, last Thursday and defeating San Jose State, 2-0, on Sunday, both at home. UNLV, meanwhile, is 5-3-5 and 1-1-2 entering its match Thursday night against Air Force. The Rebels lost to San Jose State, 3-0, last Thursday and tied Fresno State, 0-0, on Sunday.

Larkin has a 1.55 goals-against average, while McCue has a 1.66 GAA. Mallie Ramirez leads UNLV with 10 points (5g), followed by Trinity Buchanan with nine (4g,1a). Hanne Breur has started eight games in net, posting a 1.00 GAA and .784 save percentage.
