The Colorado College men's swimming team lead the field of 10 teams after the first day of the Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational in Crawfordsville, IN. The Tigers are sitting in first with 200 points after winning two individual events on Friday.
Sophomore
Edmund Davis out-touched a fast finals heat in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:38.99.
Logan Browne and
Tomas Gonzalez rounded out the heat, coming in ninth (4:50.80) and tenth (4:55.47) to put more points on the board for CC.
Collin Ralston won the 200-yard IM after touching in 1:54.41. He outpaced Birmingham-Southern College's Graham Simon by less than half a second. Kole Peterson finished tenth with a time of 1:59.86.
Jack Hussin collected points in the 50-yard free after placing sixth with a time of 21.31.
Caleb Peimann was right behind him in ninth with a 21.62 finish.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the CC team of Hussin,
Dax Sherwood, Peimann and
Eric Uerling came in third place with 1:24.67.
CC placed fifth in the 400 medley relay after finishing in 3:29.36
"We had a great first day," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "Big time drops in the prelims, and even better in finals. In addition to all the season best, we even had 13 lifetime best times today (between the men and women). With our men winning two of the three individual events today, along with great relay performances, we have the lead in the team race."
Day Two will start on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 10:00 a.m. (CT).
