Freshman guard
Dinari Boykin started his collegiate career by earning a spot on the all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference first team and being named First-Year Player-of-the-Year, which was unveiled on Saturday at the league's 2022 postseason championship at Trinity University.
Â
"We are so excited for Dinari, Scott,Trey, and Adrian." Coach
Jeff Conarroe said. "Anytime you have team success, individual accolades come with that success and this year our team really took a big step forward."
Â
Sophomore guard
Scott Ruegg received third-team all-SCAC honors for the first time in his career.
Â
Boykin finished the regular season ranked second in the conference averaging 15.9 points per game. He produced double-digit scoring in all but one contest, including a career-high 30 points in the 82-69 victory over UC Santa Cruz.
Â
The Baltimore native also led the team in rebounds with 164 and steals with 61 and finished second in assists with 41.
Â
"Dinari is a fantastic talent that really matured throughout the seasons as a defender and teammate; he really became a relentless scorer for us," Conarroe said. "But it was his focus on improving as defender and rebounder that really got him playing well during conference season and ultimately led to his awesome recognition as a first year. We are lucky to have him and look forward to seeing his growth in the years to come."
Â
Ruegg was second on the team averaging 10.4 points per game and posted a career-best 25 points on the 88-76 victory over Austin College. He posted double digit scoring in 11 of 26 games.
Â
A native of Lafayette, Calif., Ruegg was first on the team with 46 assists, finished second with 271 points, and led the team with a 33.8 three-point field goal percentage.
Â
"Scott played with the savvy of a season vet all year and was reliable night in and night out, his consistency and leadership by example allowed us to get over the hump and achieve post season play for the first time since 2016," Conarroe said. "He has really improved in every aspect of his game maturing as a player, he is a force to be reckoned with and will be a foundation for us to continue to build on for the next few years."
Â
Junior guard
Trey Crawford and sophomore center
Adrian Price both earned All-SCAC Honorable Mention recognition.
Â
"Crawford is one of our hardest workers and has become one of our toughest players," Conarroe said. "He excels on the glass, can guard multiple positions and is just starting to find his rhythm offensively after a year away. His focus to help us win and his leadership is also a critical aspect of his game which was also critical to our success."
"Price has been a workhorse for two straight years," Conarroe said. :He demands so much attention in the paint from other teams. His presence allows our guards to have success and is the anchor for our team on both ends of the floor."
Â
Colorado College finished the season with a 12-14 overall record and a 9-7 mark in the SCAC.
Â
"This was a special team to coach and I'm honored to lead them," Conarroe said. "Every single one of them deserve recognition for helping to revitalize our program."
