Somerville to Compete for Ireland at Lacrosse World Championship

The Colorado College men's lacrosse program will be represented at the 2023 Men's Lacrosse World Championships in San Diego, Calif.

Rising Junior, Kevin Somerville, was selected to play with Team Ireland at the championship this summer.

"This is a natural progression for Kevin after his performance for the U-21 Irish national team this past summer," coach Mike Horowitz said. "I'm excited to see him have an opportunity to compete on our games' biggest stage."

The tournament spans from June 21 – July 1. This year's event, the 14th edition of the men's world championship, features 30 teams vying for the sport's biggest prize – 20 teams earned their spot in the championship after the first-ever set of continental qualifiers over the past two years.

The United States will host the event for the fourth time after previously hosting in 1982, 1988 and 2014. Games will be hosted at San Diego State University and University of San Diego.
