The Colorado College women's soccer teams host San Jose State and Fresno State for the final home stand of the regular season. The Tigers look to end their season with the most wins at Stewart Field since 2019 and earn a potential spot in the Mountain West Tournament, which starts in two weeks.
Last Time Out
CC faced two of its most formidable opponents of the year last weekend, Boise State and Utah State, in back-to-back games. BSU and USU are the top two teams in the Mountain West standings, and CC battled hard but fell short in both contests.
The Tigers gave up five second-half goals in a 6-0 Aggie victory on Thursday, Oct. 17. On Sunday against the Broncos in Boise, CC held BSU to a scoreless draw at the half, but two second-half BSU goals were the decider of the 2-0 game.
Kendall Memoly led the Tigers with two shots (one on goal) against the Aggies, and four Tigers combined for four shots against the Broncos.
Tiger Tails
CC has played its best soccer at home this season, losing only one game on Sept. 29 against Colorado State. Two of the final three games of the regular season are on Stewart Field, which benefits the Tigers.
Entering Thursday, CC has outscored its opponents 13-6 at Stewart Field and allowed only 0.67 goals per game.
The Tigers have been highly efficient at shooting the ball at home, possessing a shot-on percentage of 0.476, while their opponents have a shot accuracy of 0.322.
Brett Tsamasfyros and
Kendall Memoly have led the scoring efforts at Stewart Field this season. Tsamasfyros leads the team with five goals, while Memoly follows with three.
Kylie Smith has also added her two season goals while playing at home.
CC has yet to score since Oct. 3rd against UNLV, so the Tigers hope to get back on a scoring bug with San Jose State and Fresno State coming to town.
The Tigers currently sit tenth in the Mountain West standings and only the top six teams will make it into the Mountain West Tournament, scheduled to start on Nov. 3rd in San Diego, CA. CC's best path to the tournament is to win the last three games of the regular season, including the City For Champions Cup against Air Force on Wednesday, Oct. 30th.
Scouting The Opposition
San Jose State enters Thursday ranked 11th in the conference standings behind CC. The Spartans possess a 0-11-5 record, including three conference ties. The Spartans have not won a game since Sept. 28 of last season. In 2023, the Tigers returned from a 1-0 deficit as
Shalom Prince scored two second-half goals to elevate CC to one of its best wins.
SJSU is led by Bella Flocchini, who scored two goals off 33 shots this year. Taylor Phillips leads the team with 40 shots and has a goal.
Goalkeeper Shayla Sugai leads the team with 11 starts and possesses a goals-allowed percentage of 2.11.
Up Next
After this weekend, CC will wrap up the regular season with the annual City For Champions Cup at Weidner Field, home of the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, against the Air Force Academy. This year's C4C Cup is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30th, at 6 p.m. MT
