The Colorado College women's soccer team closes out its first Mountain West road trip with a trip to Reno. Nevada to take on the Wolfpack of the University of Nevada. CC is still looking for its first victory away from Stewart Field.
Last Time Out
CC dropped its first game of the weekend in a tough 2-1 loss to UNLV on Thursday in Las Vegas, Nev. The Tigers led at the half thanks to
Alexis Wessler's first goal of the season in the 10th minute.
It was Wessler's first goal since Sept. 28, 2023, against New Mexico. It was also the second goal of her CC career.
Wessler's goal appeared to be the eventual game-winner, but two later second-half goals from the Rebels elevated them despite an overall good game from the Tigers. CC dished out 14 shots (five on target), with multiple hitting the crossbar, led by
Tyler Rose, who had three.
CC dropped to 5-6-2 on the year with the loss.
Offensive Efficiency
Despite being 12th in the Mountain West entering the weekend with 8.18 shots per game, the Tigers are second in the Mountain West and 21st in the nation in shot efficiency with a .533 shot-on-goal percentage.
The Tigers aren't producing an enormous number of shots this season, but when they do, they're almost always on target and end up in the back of the net.
Tsamasfyros is fifth in the conference with a .500 SOG percentage.
The San Manteo, CA native isn't having a quiet season. She recorded the first three-game scoring streak for CC since the 2014 season. Brett leads the team with five goals during the streak, including her first career hat trick against UC Santa Barbara.
Tsamasfyros is third in the conference, with an average of 0.56 goals per game, and tied for fourth in total goals.
Scouting The Opposition
Nevada enters Sunday with a 2-10 (0-3) record after dropping a 1-0 match to Air Force on Thursday. The Wolfpack are 12th in the Mountain West, averaging 0.75 goals per game while surrendering 2.75 goals per contest.
Sophomore Olivia Loomis is the leading scorer with four goals off 18 shots. Loomis opened the season with a three-game scoring streak.
Nevada won its first two games of the season, defeating Kansas State and Southern Utah in 2-1 contests. Since then, the Wolfpack has dropped nine straight. Air Force scored in the 11th minute on Thursday and left Reno with the closely fought victory.
