The Colorado College men's and women's tennis teams are traveling to Sherman, Texas, this weekend for the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Austin College.

Both teams are seeded third at the tournament for the third consecutive year. The women will face sixth-seeded Texas Lutheran in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 25, at 8 p.m. (CT), at Austin College, while the men will battle sixth-seeded University of St. Thomas in the quarters the same n Friday, April 26, at 6 p.m. (CT) at Sherman High School.

The women's team finished the regular season with a 6-12 overall record and enters the tournament with a pair of freshmen at the top two spots.
Kala Komanduri, ranked 18
th in the West Region, posted an 8-8 record at the No. 1 position during the regular season, including a thrilling, 6-1, 2-6, 1-0(7) victory over Mary Young of 41
st-ranked Southwestern University last Sunday.

Sophomore
Lindsay Popeo led the team with nine singles victories, three at the No. 3 spot and six at No. 4. Junior
Christina Heffron and freshman
Avery Hickman each collected seven singles wins.

The Tigers were 2-2 in league play, defeating Austin College and St. Thomas, and losing to 14
th-ranked Trinity and Southwestern.

"We have shown we can compete with nationally ranked powers, and the resiliency to do so under adverse circumstances," head coach
Anthony Weber said. "We are healthy and hungry, and eyeing a great run this weekend."

The men's team also enters the tournament with a 6-12 overall record after suffering a heartbreaking, 5-4 decision to 31
st-ranked Southwestern University in the regular-season finale last Sunday. The Tigers went 2-2 in league play, defeating Austin College and St. Thomas, and losing to 6
th-ranked Trinity and Southwestern.

Senior
Andrew Kaelin posted an impressive 11-7 record at the No. 1 position, the most wins at the top spot in one season since Dan Solomon had 14 in 2009. He went 3-1 in league matches with his only loss coming against Jared Perry of 6
th-ranked Trinity, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Kaelin enters the SCAC Tournament ranked No. 11 in the West Region.

Junior
Lucas Pastor collected an 8-7 record at the No. 2 spot, while fellow junior
Aiden Little was 10-5 at No. 3 this season. Little tied Kaelin with a team-high 11 overall singles wins.

"We played one of the toughest schedules in the country this season and competed at a high level," Weber said. "This is one of the most fearless teams I have coached, relying on senior leadership and young energy. They are ready for a big run this weekend."

Each team finished third at the SCAC Tournament last season and has advanced to one SCAC final since joining the league in 2007. The men lost to Trinity, 9-0, in 2013, while the women fell to Trinity, 5-1, in 2015.
