Rabbit Barnes and
Josh Williams helped the Colorado College men's track and field team to a tie for second place following the first day of the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Saturday in San Antonio, Texas.
The Tigers, who have finished third in the last seven SCAC Championships, are tied with Texas Lutheran with 95 points, trailing Trinity University (131 points).

Cherry won his first SCAC title and led a 1-4 finish for the Tigers in the 10K with a time of 33:44.16. Defending champion
James Settles finished second, while 2021 champion
Devlin Swanson finished third and sophomore
Dominic Schwein placed fourth.

Barnes, meanwhile, won the 800 in a school-record time of 1:52.59, the second-fastest time ever in the SCAC. Freshman
Will Nakahara placed fourth in the race.

Williams won the 200 with an SCAC-record time of 21.11 seconds, surpassing the previous league mark by two-tenths of a second. He also placed fourth in the long jump.

Sam Singer placed second, third and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Wyatt Wellehan placed fifth in the pole vault with height of 12'7.25".

"They went out and competed just like they have done all season," head coach
Katie Bretscher said. "We have put ourselves in a good position to surpass our all-time team point total on Sunday."
