Three individual titles on Sunday helped the Colorado College men's track and field team score a program-record 169.5 points and finish third at the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in San Antonio, Texas.

"We had an outstanding championship," head coach
Katie Bretscher said. "Several of our athletes stepped up and scored more points than what was projected. I am very proud of this team and the championship that we had this weekend."

The Tigers placed third for the eighth consecutive year. Trinity University won the team title with 272.5 points, followed by Texas Lutheran with 187. Â

Senior
Devlin Swanson captured the 5K title on Sunday, his second career SCAC title, while
Josh Williams and
Rabbit Barnes each won his second of the weekend.
Â
Swanson led a 1-2-3-4 finish in the 5K with a time of 14:57.01. Fellow seniors
James Settles,
Brett Kitazono and
Ayden Cherry finished second, third and fourth, respectively, while junior
Walt Jones placed eighth.

Williams, meanwhile, ran away with the 400 title with a new SCAC Championship and school-record time of 47.48 seconds, nearly one full second faster than runner-up Bryce Powell-Chimene of Texas Lutheran (48.41). Freshman
Will Nakahara finished eighth.

Barnes took home the 1500 title for the second straight year with a time of 3:54.65, the second-fastest time ever at the SCAC Championships. Settles finished third, followed by sophomores
Ruben Margolis and
Huck Whittemore in fourth and eighth, respectively.

Holden Perry (100) and freshman
Chase Marks (110 hurdles) each posted a seventh-place result on Sunday. Â Perry joined Williams, Barnes and Nakahara on the fourth-place 4x400 relay squad.

Following the event, Settles was named the winner of the prestigious Elite 19 Award for the second consecutive year. The SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. Additionally, the student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC honors in his/her sport for that particular season.

The Tigers return to action on Friday, May 3, at the Air Force Academy Twilight Open, for the first of several "Last Chance" meets throughout the month of May leading up to the NCAA Division III Championships.
