Tigers To Host Northern Colorado On Sunday

The Colorado College women's soccer team hosts the University of Northern Colorado in a Centennial State showdown on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. at Stewart Field. The Tigers and Bears last met in 2021 but have not played in Colorado Springs since 2017. CC is 16-4-0 all-time against UNC.

How To Watch

All CC home games can be watched on the Mountain West Network. Live stats can be found at CCTigers.com

Last Time Out

CC collected its first win of the 2024 season after downing South Dakota State 1-0 on Thursday night at Stewart Field. The Tigers were able to down the Jackrabbits who made the NCAA Tournament in 2023 after winning the Summit League title. It was the first meeting between the two teams.

Notable Performances
1) #7 Kendall Memoly - The sophomore nabbed her first career goal in the 66th minute with an assist from Alexis Wessler. It was her first goal and third career point.
2) #1 Regan Wallace - The starting goalkeeper collected her first career and CC shutout since the 2022 season. The Rancho Cucamonga native finished with two saves.
3) #12 Alexis Wessler - Assisted on the game-winning goal to record her
first point of the season and second of her career.

Career First Goals

The Tigers are trying to increase their goal-scoring from last season when the team ended with 15 goals. Through two games, Finley Schoenbeck and Memoly have been the lone goal scorers.

Schoenbeck was fed a fantastic ball from Tyler Rose to go up 1-0 against No. 25 Iowa on Sunday. The Tigers currently have two players on the roster, Kaelin Enga and Brett Tsamasfyros, with multiple career goals.

The Tigers have numerous options to lean on for potential goal scoring, but as head coach Keri Sanchez hinted towards leading up to the season, it may be a "scoring by committee" campaign.

Both Schoenbecks and Memoly's goals were career firsts for the pair. Having those styles of goals come from any player or angle, may be the key to success for the Tigers in 2024.

Home Sweet Home

CC has now won four of its previous six home opener, including Thursday's win over SD State.

In 2022, Keri Sanchez collected her first win at home as the Tigers' head coach with a 2-1 victory over Bucknell. In the same game, then-freshman Kaelin Enga scored her first game-winning goal after the Tigers rallied with two second-half goals.

Scouting the Opposition

Northern Colorado enters Sunday with a 0-3 record after dropping their most recent contest to Colorado State 0-3. The Bears have yet to score a goal in 2024 and have given up an average of three goals a game.

UNC opened the season by hosting the Air Force Academy and South Dakota State. The Bears have two Colorado Springs natives (Francesca Jordan and Sydney Engelkins) returning to play in their hometown.

Up Next

CC will host cross-town foe UCCS on Wednesday, Aug. 28. At 7:00 p.m. at Stewart Field. The Mountain Lions will officially open up their season on Sept. 5 at Western Oregon. In 2023, UCCS made it to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament and ended the season 15-5-3 record after winning the RMAC regular season championship.
