Tigers Prepare For SCAC Road Trip Against Austin College & Dallas

The Colorado College men's basketball team hits the road for another Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference pair of games against Austin College and the University of Dallas.

CC (8-9, 4-4 SCAC) looks to improve its road record to above .500 and maintain its position in the SCAC Blue Division standings.

Last Time Out

The Tigers went 1-1 last weekend against Centenary and the University of the Ozarks. CC downed Centenary 101-72 on Friday evening, avenging its loss in the 2024 SCAC Tournament Championship game.

Senior Scott Ruegg dished 21 points and became the third Tigers to reach 1,000 career points. Ruegg finished with a season-high six three-pointers, two rebounds, a block, and a steal. Senior Asher Nofziger added his sixth double-double of the season with 22 points, 12 points, six assists, two blocks and a steal.

12 Tigers scored in the win, including the bench that contributed 37 points, outsourcing Centenary's bench. CC had a season-high 27 assists, led by Ty Hendler, who dished a career-high 11 with his eight points, three rebounds, and a steal.

In The Standings

Despite a loss to Ozarks on Sunday, the Tigers still sit in third in the SCAC Blue Division behind St. Thomas and Ozarks. The top three teams from the Gold and Blue Divisions advance to the SCAC Tournament, starting on Feb. 28.

Nofziger is currently third in both points (18.1) and rebounds (8.8) per game. The senior leads all CC players and has six double-doubles this season, which is also a team-high.

Devin Philio leads the entire conference in field goal percentage—the Colorado native converts on 67.4 percent of his shots from the floor.

CC has the fourth-best shooting percentage (45.0) in the conference and the third-best three-point percentage (35.7).

Scouting The Opposition

Austin College is in sixth place in the Blue Division with a 6-11 overall record and a 1-7 SCAC record. The 'Roos have dropped six straight, with their last win coming on Jan. 4 against Dallas.

Jackson Rennie leads the team with 15.3 points per game and is a perfect 30-30 from the free throw line this year.
Dallas is fourth behind CC in the divisional standings. The Crusaders are 4-4 in conference play and 8-9 overall. They have won two-straight and are 6-4 at home this season. Forward Jack Boyle leads the team with 14.1 ppg and was the third in SCAC Player of the Year votes last season.
