Tigers Set To Battle Concordia In First Round Of SCAC Tournament

The Colorado College men's basketball team enters the SCAC Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Blue Division. It takes on Concordia University (TX) in the quarterfinals on Friday at 7 pm CT in Irving, Texas.

The University of Dallas hosts this year's tournament.

Last Time Out

CC (13-12, 9-7 SCAC) locked up the No. 2 spot in the Blue Division after back-to-back wins over  Centenary and the University of the Ozarks on Feb. 14 and 16th. The Tigers fell to Schreiner and No. 24 Trinity last week to close the regular season.

On Friday, the Tigers battled the Mountaineers but fell 69-71. CC forced 17 turnovers, and 10 Tigers tallied points on the scoresheet. Senior Scott Ruegg drilled a jumper to tie the game up 69-69 with 17 seconds remaining. With no time on the shot clock, Schreiner's CJ Ward battled his way into the paint and laid the game-winner off the glass and in as time expired.

Two days later, on Senior Day, the Tigers were defeated by Trinity 83-76. Sophomore Ty Hendler led the team with a career-high 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Junior Asher Nofziger racked up 15 points, seven assists, three assists, a block and a steal. Ruegg dished 12 points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
