The No. 19 Colorado College women's lacrosse team close out its regular season home schedule by hosting three teams this weekend, starting on Thursday. The Tigers (6-2) play Chapman University on Thursday at 4 pm, Hamline on Saturday at 3 pm and College of St. Benedict on Sunday at 11 am.
Last Time Out
CC went 1-1 last week against SUNY New Paltz and No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer. On Monday, the Tigers were ousted by the Hawks by a final score of 8-7, but they bounced back with an upset victory over the Sagehens, one of the highest-ranked wins in program history.
The Tigers' shot-on-goal percentage was 70.3, and four players scored multiple goals. Sophomores
Sofia Mancino,
Charlotte Iler, and
Oliv Janerico combined for seven goals.
Senior
Peyton Murphy led the team with four goals, and
Tobin Lonergan dished out a career-high five assists and a goal.
It was the first win over Pomona-Pitzer since 2022, ending a five-game losing streak against the Sagehens.
Players of the Week
Lonergan and goalkeeper
Cassidy Schnaufer swept the Players of the Week awards for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Lonergan had a career-high five assists and a goal in a 13-8 win over No. 9-ranked Pomona-Pitzer College (Calif.) on March 20. It's the first Top 10 win for the Tigers in 20 years, and Lonergan led the team with six points in the winning effort. She also had an assist earlier in the week against SUNY Paltz and ended the week with seven points.
Schnaufer had a strong weekend, making a combined 25 saves against SUNY New Paltz and No. 9-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.). She had 12 saves against the Sagehens in the first Top 10 win of her career as she held the Sagehens to under 10 goals for the first time this season.
Scouting The Opposition
Chapman enters the week with a 2-5 record and is 1-3 in its last four games. The Panthers won 17-8 over Whitman College on March 19 but fell to Oberlin College on Tuesday, 11-10.
Hamline and College of St. Benedict are both now members of the WIAC, and this will be the Tigers' first and only home conference matchups.
The Pipers are 2-4 this season but have won back-to-back Marian University and Concordia (WI) after starting the year 0-4.
The Bennies are 2-1 this year and most recently played Hamline and won 23-4. St. Benedict started as a program only two seasons ago, in 2023. It was 11-3 in its inaugural season and finished 9-5 last year.
