The Colorado College men's basketball team hosts McMurry University on Friday, Jan. 23, at 5:30 p.m. MT and Schreiner University on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m.
CC (5-10) has won three of its last four games and looks to extend its home winning streak to three-straight.
Last Time Out
The Tigers went 1-1 on their SCAC road trip to Arkansas last week. On Friday, CC downed Hendrix 74-64 before falling to Ozarks 85-72 on Sunday afternoon. Against the Warriors,
Asher Nofziger paced CC with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go with six rebounds.
Orion Samikoglu added 11 points, while
Terrion Benson provided a spark off the bench with 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Ryan Kranz chipped in eight points and three steals, and
Christian Drummond contributed seven points and four assists.
Against the Eagles, Krantz led the team with a career-high 22 points and six three-pointers.
1,000 Point Club
Asher Nofziger is 22 points away from reaching 1,000 career points. He would become the 24th player in program history to accomplish the feat, joining former teammate
Scott Ruegg who is the most recent Tiger to reach the milestone.
Nofziger currently has 978 points and leads the team with 229 in only 15 games. He is averaging 15.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Tiger Tails
Krantz is having a stellar season in his first year. The Boston native leads the team with 37 made three-pointers and is converting at 44 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. He already has six games this year scoring in double digits and is third on the team with 8.8 ppg.
Junior
Ty Hendler is second on the squad with 12.5 ppg.
Scouting The Opposition
McMurry enters Friday with a 6-9 (1-5 SCAC) record. The most recent outing for the War Hawks was an 84-71 victory over Texas Lutheran on Jan. 17. The win ended a five-game skid.
Senior Jalen Cherry leads the team with 15.2 points per game, and he also leads the conference with 12.6 rebounds per game.
Schreiner will visit St. Thomas (TX) on Friday before flying up to Colorado Springs. The Mountaineers are currently 7-8 (4-2 SCAC) this seasons with recent losses to Texas Lutheran and Concordia (TX).
Dylan Snow leads the team and is eighth in the conference with 17.2 points per game.
