The Colorado College Tigers are back at home for a midweek match with New Mexico before heading back out on the road this weekend. Kick off for Wednesday's match is slated for 6 pm at Stewart Field. Colorado College started out Mountain West play going 2-0-1 with wins over Hawaii and UC Davis, before drawing with Nevada on Saturday in Reno.
LAST TIME OUT
Colorado College got off to a slow start at Nevada on Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers have a history of close games against the Wolf Pack. This match was no different, though for much of the match, the Tigers were on their heels in Reno. The first half was largely uneventful, thought with less than three minutes to play before the break, Nevada would break the ice with a goal that was put into the Tigers net by a rouge header from the CC backline. Reagan Wallace in goal wasn't expecting the back pass, nor was she in position to receive it, as CC faced an early deficit. The Wolf Pack would build their lead midway through the second half, as Ella Hallert scored with an assist from Avery Hays in the 76th, as Nevada looked in control. That would change in the final minutes of the match, as CC finally broke through with a goal from
Ella Ashouri, who threaded a shot through the defense from twenty yards out, picking the top right corner of the frame and collecting her team-best fourth goal of the year. Just under four minutes later, late in the 87th minute,
Kate Pulley turned a deep throw in into the equalizer as she spun around and netted a shot inside the far post after making her way in from the near touch line. CC went from scoreless to a 2-2 draw in just six minutes and forty-five seconds of game time.
ABOUT NEW MEXICO
Nicole Anderson leads the way for New Mexico on the attack as she comes into Wednesday's game with seven goals which is tied for the most of any player in the Mountain West. Presley Devey is close behind with five goals, good for a tie for fifth most in the Mountain West. The key to playing the Lobos is not allowing them to score more than once. New Mexico is 5-0-0 in games they score more than once, while they are 0-2-2 when they score just one goal. They have only been shutout once, which came in a 3-0 loss in Boulder vs then #24 Colorado. The Lobos only have a +5 goal differential on the season despite being 4th in the conference in goals scored (21) they are eighth in goals allowed as they have given up 16 in ten games. Alyson Campbell is the expected starter in goal, having started all ten games, totaling 888 minutes and making 40 saves on the season.
SERIES HISTORY
The Tigers face the Lobos for the 15th time in program history this week, holding a 4-9-1 record in the series. In the last four match ups, however, the Tigers are 2-1-1 with the Lobos.
