Tigers Look to Defend SCAC Title This Weekend

The Colorado College men's swimming and diving team heads to Garland, Texas, this week to defend its title at the 2026 SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships, which begin on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

The Tigers captured their first SCAC Championship in program history last season.

"The men enter this championship week with a strong sense of purpose as they look to defend last season's team championship," head coach Jen Buffin said. "This group has put together an excellent training cycle and has been very intentional in its preparation, focusing on the details, pace, quality racing in practice and recovery to ensure we are ready to perform at our best when it matters most."

Senior Edmund Davis and sophomores Sam Allen, Andrew Colgan and Liam McCarthy have the experience of winning an SCAC title.

"We are led by a core group that understands how to score points and elevate performance in a championship environment," Buffin said. "We have been steady leaders all season and will play key roles in both individual and relay events. Their experience and consistency provide a strong foundation for our team."

Davis won the 1650 freestyle as a freshman and sophomore and won the 500 freestyle his first season. He placed second in each event last year and has the league's top time in each event entering the conference meet. Meanwhile, Colgan captured the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke events and swam on the winning 200- and 400-medley relay teams in his first conference meet. He holds the SCAC's best times in the 100- and 200-breaststroke events this season.

Allen won the 200 backstroke event in 2025 and has the top conference time in the 100- and 200-backstroke and 200 IM this season, while McCarthy was a member of three relay teams that took home first place (200 medley, 400 medley and 200 freestyle) last year.

"Our newcomers have also made an immediate impact," Buffin added. "Logan Loveday and Mark Lofye have added valuable depth and versatility, positioning themselves to contribute to important individual races and relays."

On the boards, senior Nico Rimer has had an impressive season and secured his first regional qualifying score in each event during the season.

"Nico has taken a significant step forward this season," Buffin said. "He earned his first NCAA regional qualifying scores and continues to trend in the right direction as we head into championship week. Nico is approaching this meet in strong form and will be competing for his first SCAC title."

The four-day SCAC Championships begin on Wednesday with the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays.
