Tigers Win Third Straight 7-0 Match

Box Score The Colorado College women's tennis team captured its third consecutive 7-0 victory on Sunday, blanking Concordia University in Austin, Texas. The Tigers are off to their best start since 2012 with a 6-2 overall record.

The Tigers, ranked 36th in the latest ITA Division III poll, took an early 1-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches as all three teams stayed unbeaten in SCAC play. Lucia Moravek and Aspen Young defeated Johanna Winkler and Aria Moreni, 6-1, in the No. 1 match, while Ally Lowe and Kala Komanduri won their second straight 6-0 match over Valerie Sanchez and Emily Pullen at No. 2. Lindsay Popeo and Avery Hickman completed the sweep with a hard-fought 7-5 victory over Jeauxleigh Cantu and Alyssa Mae Estrella at the No. 3 spot.

CC then captured all six singles matches in straight sets for the third consecutive team match. Komanduri won the No. 3 match, 6-0, 6-0, for the third straight match over Pullen and Young took the No. 1 match, 6-4, 6-0, over Winkler.

"We took care of business today with an eye towards a couple big matches with national implications the rest of the week," head coach Anthony Weber said.

The Tigers (6-2, 4-0 SCAC) return to action on Monday, March 16, against 22nd-ranked Wellesley College in San Antonio, Texas, beginning at 12 p.m. (CT).
