Red-hot Rangers shoot down Tigers

Regis University used a 16-3 run late in the first half to break open a close game and went on to defeat Colorado College, 80-55, on Tuesday night in Denver.

The Tigers (1-4) trailed by just three points when Jarrell Sweet scored with 5:41 remaining in the first half, but that was as close as CC would get.

Regis (1-1) took advantage of 24 Colorado College turnovers and had a 32-24 advantage on the boards. The Division II Rangers also shot .583 from the field, including .652 in the second half.

Brady Ohlsen scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Tigers. It was the second time the sophomore forward has scored more than 20 points in a game this season after doing it just once as a freshman. Ohlsen has led CC rebounding in four of five games and in scoring three times.

Sweet reached double figures for the fourth time with 13 points and had a season-high seven steals.

Joseph Odugbela led the Rangers with 18 points, while Andy Pokorny and Matt Rosinski added 16 apiece.

Colorado College will wrap up its five-game stretch against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents this weekend when the Tigers take on Mesa State and Western State College on Friday and Saturday, respectively, in the Mesa State Thanksgiving Classic.
