View complete press release »

Revived by Sunday's 1-0 victory at the University of Minnesota but still struggling to score goals, Colorado College concludes the 2008 portion of its schedule this weekend with a pair of non-league games at home against Sacred Heart University of the Atlantic Hockey Association.

Opening faceoff at the World Arena is 7:37 p.m. MST Friday and 7:07 p.m. MST Saturday.

The teams are meeting for the first time ever.

The Tigers, 10-6-4 overall, are  7-5-2 in WCHA play and tied for third place with Wisconsin in the league standings, three points behind front-running Denver at least until conference play resumes in early January. Sacred Heart, which has not played since skating to a 5-3 victory over Connecticut at home on Dec. 2, is 4-9-2 overall and 4-7-2 in AHA play. The Pioneers currently are seventh but just one point out of third in their league  standings.

Colorado College remains No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, in the national polls published by USCHO.com/CBS College Sports and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine. CC has climbed one spot to No. 12 in this week's power rankings conducted by InsideCollegeHockey.com.

Senior forwards Chad Rau (10g,15a) and Eric Walsky (9g,13a) are tied for first and fifth, respectively, among the WCHA's overall scoring leaders. And, with Michigan Tech the only other league team playing official games this week, both could move up with a productive series against SHU. Rau's 25 points currently ranks third nationally, just one behind co-leaders James van Riemsdyk of New Hampshire and Carter Camper of Miami University.
