Becky Luetjen scored a career-high 29 points to lead Colorado College to a 69-68 victory over Millsaps College in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Friday night at Reid Gymnasium.
Luetjen made a pair of free throws with 52 seconds remaining, but the Tigers needed a steal by Emily Wattman-Turner with three seconds remaining to secure the victory.
Colorado College led by 15 points in the first half and by 12 after the break, but every time the Tigers appeared to take control of the game, the Majors battle back.
Kalli-Anne Kemling gave CC a 67-60 lead with 2:43 remaining in the game when she converted on a pair of free throws, but Kristin Salmon knocked down back-to-back three pointers to pull Millsaps to within one point, and then Ronda game the Majors their only lead of the game on a layup with 1:10 to play.
The Tigers led 34-19 with 3:54 remaining in the first half, only to see the Majors score the final seven points to trim CC's lead to 34-27 after 20 minutes.
Collier Clegg had eight points, while Wattman-Turner added seven.
Luetjen led the Tigers with eight rebounds and three assists.
Webb paced the Majors with 19 points. Deonna Walton and Kristin Salmon also reached double figures with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
CC improved to 4-1 overall, while the Majors dropped to 0-5.
Colorado College plays host to Hendrix College on Sunday.
