Sophomore goaltender
Max Pluss made a career-high 15 saves to help Colorado College begin a crucial four-match road stretch with an 8-7 victory at Kenyon College on Saturday afternoon.
Toby Cohen's second goal put Colorado College ahead for good with 10:15 remaining in the game and Charley Perkins added what proved to be the game winner with 5:41 to play. John Crain pulled Kenyon to within one goal with 3:01 remaining, but that was close as the Lords would get.
The Tigers built a 3-0 after one period on goals by Cohen, Chris Love and Hunter Sprole, and Pluss made nine of his saves during the first 30 minutes to make that lead stand up at the break.
Kenyon stormed back in the third period with a 5-2 run and tied the game on Ben Alexander's second goal with 2:20 remaining in the frame.
Love gave the Tigers a 6-5 lead 1:30 into the fourth period, but Devin Catlin answered 53 seconds later with a man-up goal.
Sprole led CC with two goals and an assist, while Cohen and Love added two scores apiece. Carson Christman scored once and set up Sprole's second tally in the third period.
Buck McKenna and Michael McGeary scooped up six ground balls to pace the defense.
The Tigers improved to 5-4 with their third consecutive victory, while the Lords dropped to 5-4.
Colorado College will travel to Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday.
