Doubles sweep leads to win over CSU-Pueblo

Colorado College used victories in all three doubles matches to post a 5-1 victory over Colorado State University-Pueblo at the Burkhardt Tennis Courts on the CC campus.

Five freshmen earned a point in their collegiate debut to help the Tigers win their first match of the season.

Lionel Zen-Ruffinen teamed with sophomore Nate Burt to post an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Zach White and Will Lindsay were in complete control at No. 2 doubles and coasted to an 8-1 decision.

Junior Sam Barnard and Nathan Lee completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 triumph at No. 3 doubles.

Isaac Fuhrman posted a 6-4, 6-0 triumph at No. 6 singles for CC's fourth point, and junior Evan Jonker sealed the victory with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2.

The three remaining matches were not completed due to darkness.

"We only had 6 playable courts between both the men and women's teams, so getting in all of the matches was not really an option," Clark said. "Thanks to a strong doubles showing we were able to take a 3-0 lead going into the singles matches which gave us the chance to clinch the match before the sun set."
