Now Colorado College just needs to figure out a way to sustain the momentum.
The Tigers, who will close out the 2010-11 regular season with six consecutive weekends of WCHA play starting next Friday, head into the stretch with a modest two-game winning streak after skating to a 4-1 victory over the University of Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday at the World Arena.
With the triumph, they completed their third series sweep of the season – but their first at home – and improved to 14-11-1 overall.
Alabama-Huntsville, the nation's only remaining Division I independent, dropped to 3-23-2.
A trio of sophomores –
Mike Boivin,
Rylan Schwartz,
Scott Winkler – contributed a goal and an assist apiece for CC, which won Friday's series opener by a 7-0 count.
Freshman winger
Michael Morin scored the game winner on a wrap-around backhand early in the second period, just 51 seconds after Alabama-Huntsville had pulled even at 1-1 on a rebound tally by Alex Allan.
Sophomore goaltender
Joe Howe steered aside the other 28 shot he faced while backstopping his 11th victory of the season.
Boivin, a defenseman, finished the series with four points after recording a goal and an assist in each contest against the Chargers. Freshman netminder Clarke Saunders made 28 saves for UAH.
