Deanna Thirkell won her doubles match and dropped just one point during singles play for the second time this season as Colorado College sailed to an 8-1 victory at Colorado State University – Pueblo on Saturday afternoon.

Katie Patterson started the day with an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles to help CC even the score at 1-1. The senior followed her doubles performance with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory over Nicole Pilot at No. 1 singles.

Mary Edman combined for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles to help give the Tigers an early edge over the Thunderwolves.
“We got off to a slow start in doubles and then we did a great job of fighting back to win two of the three doubles spots,” said head coach Todd Doebler. “In singles, we really played much better and were able to win all the matches.”
Edman followed Thirkell's performance with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Brittany Trivithick at the No. 4 singles position, while
Maggie Harwood beat Aneysa Hart, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
Anna Sweeney, Criss and Patterson each had hard fought victories during their matches to earn the sweep in singles play. Sweeney won her match 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6 singles, while Criss stayed strong at No. 3 singles to win 6-4, 4-6, 10-1. Patterson finished singles play with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Kellie Manes at the No. 2 singles spot.
Colorado College is now 4-1 on the season. The Tigers continue play on the road as they travel to Denver to take Metro State College of Denver on Mar. 15 at 1 p.m.
