The Colorado College women's tennis team split matches on Saturday in San Antonio, Texas. The Tigers beat Austin College, 7-2 during their morning match, but fell to No. 14 Trinity University, 9-0 during their afternoon match.
CC began the day sweeping all three doubles points against Austin.
Katie Patterson and
Caila Criss earned an 8-4 victory over Ashley Hellman and Madison Watt to lead the team during doubles action at the No. 2 doubles position.
Deanna Thirkell and
Mary Edman earned an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Anna Sweeney and
Maddy Bush also won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
The Tigers took four out of six matches during singles play against Austin.
Thirkell dropped just one point for the third time this season when she beat Elizabeth Flint, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. The senior improved to 12-3 on the season and currently rides a three-game win streak.
Maggie Harwood had her best match of the season at No. 6 singles dropping just two points against Amy Harvey during a 6-2, 6-0 win. With the win, Harwood extended her winning streak to three games.
Edman earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Hellman at No. 5 singles, while Bush beat Jessie Berger 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
During the afternoon, the Tigers were unable to take a match from Trinity falling in all nine matches.
Colorado College moved to 9-7 on the season and continues play in San Antonio to take on Southwestern University on Sunday at 10 a.m.
