Colorado College double's partners
Nate Burt and
Lionel Zen-Ruffinen were named to the 2012 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis All-Tournament team on Friday.
The duo was a perfect 4-0 at No. 1 doubles during the conference tournament and was the only team to win four matches.
“Nate and Leo really improved as a team this season,” head coach Todd Doebler said. “It was great to see them playing their best tennis at the end of the season and go undefeated at the conference championships.”
Burt and Zen-Ruffinen started the tournament with a pair of victories on Apr. 27. The twosome began the day with a strong 8-1 victory over Austin College and completed the day with a tough 9-8 triumph over Sewanee.
The next day, the pair completed an 8-4 victory over Oglethorpe University and carried their winning streak into the final day of the tournament, defeating Centre College, 8-3.
The duo finished the season with an 11-8 record overall and helped the Tigers finish sixth in the SCAC tournament and 10-11 overall as a team this season.
To be eligible for the all-tournament team, players or doubles teams that went through the conference tournament undefeated (minimum 2-0) were named to the team.
