CC opens NCAA Tournament at Amherst

Colorado College earned its second consecutive berth in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship and will travel to No. 14 Amherst College for a first-round matchup on Wednesday, May 7.

The opening faceoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. ET.

CC, which improved to 10-5 with an 11-10 overtime victory against Whittier College on Friday night, earned one of the 10 at-large selections in the 30-team field. The Tigers are making their third appearance in the national tournament in the last four years.

The Jeffs (12-4) also earned an at-large berth after falling 20-13 to Tufts University in the NESCAC championship game.

The winner of Wednesday's contest advances to face either New England College or Union College in the second round on Saturday.

The Tigers are 3-4 on the road this season, with three of the losses occurring against NCAA Tournament teams during the opening month of the season. Since then, Colorado College has won seven of eight games.

Amherst is 5-0 at home in 2014 and is 8-2 in its last 10 games overall, with both losses coming against Tufts.

The national quarterfinals will be played on Wednesday, May 14, with the semifinals occurring four days later at campus sites.

The Division III national championship game is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., and shown via web stream on NCAA.com.
