Tim Jenkins, the Tigers didn't allow a shot on goal for more than 39 minutes, and by that time they had built what proved to be an insurmountable 5-0 lead.
"Our defense played awesome," head coach
Sean Woods said. "We challenged them all week to be disciplined and we didn't give Berry anything easy. The shots they did get, they really earned. Our defense is really improved."
Jenkins, a three-year starter from Baltimore, held first-team all-Southern Athletic Association pick Cory Hall to just three shots, neither of which were on target.
"Tim is having an exceptional year," Woods said. "That's an all-conference player he was matched up against. Tim had to play really well today, and he did. He'll get a lot of attention toward the end of the year. He's that good."
Jenkins led the defense with five ground balls and four caused turnovers, but he was more excited about helping his team record the shutout.
"I've never been part of a goose egg before, so it feels really good," he said. "They're a quality team and they showed us some looks on film that we had to be prepared for. They showed us what they had and we took care of it. We earned it."
He also was thrilled that Roos was the beneficiary of the defense's effort.
"Roos is playing very well," Jenkins said. "We're really deep at the goalie position and we're lucky to have three goalies that all can play. For Roos to be a senior and get that shutout, it was special for all of us. They got some shots and he took care of them."
CC scored the only goal it needed 4:04 into the first contest courtesy of the Davie bothers. Dylan, a senior attackman, took a pass from sophomore Austin, stepped around a defender on the left wing, and rifled a shot past junior goaltender Nick Voso into the top left corner.
Midway through the first quarter, freshman attackman
Sam Dardani took a pass from junior attackman
Robert Prior and ripped a shot into the same spot, forcing the Vikings to call a timeout.
Senior midfielder
Henri Halle struck for the first of his two goals with 2:58 remaining in the first quarter after taking a pass crossing pass from sophomore attackman
Jack McCormick and scoring from just outside the right post.
Dardani's second of three tallies gave Colorado College a 4-0 lead midway through the second quarter, then senior midfielder
Taylor Paul scored three in a row to give his team a seven-goal advantage with one quarter to play. Â Â
Berry launched half of its 16 shots during the fourth quarter, but was unable to penetrate the Tiger defense and get a shot past Roos.
CC added markers by junior midfielder
Eric Neumeyer, Halle and Dardani to reach double figures for the fifth game in a row.
Voso made six saves for the Vikings, who slipped to 3-2 overall.
Freshman long-stick midfielder Michael Troy grabbed a team-high four ground balls and won five of 10 face-offs for Berry.
Colorado College, which improved to 5-1, puts its five-game winning streak on the line against Vassar College on March 15.
