Box Score Twelve different players scored goals and two others added at least one assist as Colorado College closed out the regular season with a 19-9 victory over Southwestern University on Saturday afternoon at Washburn Field.
The Tigers improved to 12-3 overall and 6-0 at home, where they outscored their opponents 87-34 this year. Now CC is hoping to earn one more game at Washburn Field when the brackets for the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship will be revealed on Sunday, May 3.
The first half belonged to Colorado College's seniors, who were involved in seven of their team's 10 goals.
Dylan Davie, who extended his goal-scoring streak to 11 games, put the Tigers on the board 1:38 into the contest. His second tally ignited a three-goal explosion during the final 51 seconds of the second quarter that gave CC a 10-2 lead after 30 minutes.
Mackie Greason notched his second of the game with 20 seconds to go, and then sophomore midfielder
John Grube scored the first of two goals 10 seconds later after scooping up a ground ball off the face-off.
Sophomore attackman
Jack McCormick struck for back-to-back goals to give Colorado College a 4-0 lead before freshman attacker Dakota Butler put the Pirates on the board with 3:51 to play in the first quarter. Â
The youngest Tigers had a chance to flash their skills during the second half. After Zach Haligman pulled the Pirates to within 12-5 midway through the third quarter, first-year attackmen Robbie Stern and
Sam Sheridan each scored the first of their two goals to give the CC a 14-5 lead.
Southwestern countered with a pair of makers in a span of 42 seconds to keep things interesting. Freshman midfielder Everett Barger scored the last of his three tallies with 2:49 to go, then junior attacker Brandon Hanley made the score 14-7 with 2:07 to play in the third frame.
Grube got one of those goals back with 55 seconds left in the quarter, and then Colorado College took the wind out of the Pirate's sails with goals by first-year attackman

Sophomore attackman
Stephen Petersilge and Sheridan led the CC attack with two goals and an assist. Senior midfielder
Taylor Paul also had three points with one tally and a pair of helpers.

Jack Roos made five saves during his 45 minutes in goal. Freshman
Brice Tucker stopped one shot during the fourth quarter.
Sophomore midfielder
John Grube grabbed a career-high six ground balls for the Tigers, while freshman defender
Sam Meyjes caused three turnovers.
Freshmen midfielder Everett Barger led the Pirates with three goals and four points, while first-year attackman Dakota Butler finished with three tallies of his own. Â
Colorado College launched a season-high 63 shots, compared to 21 for Southwestern. CC also finished with a 32-19 edge in ground balls.
Junior goaltender Charlie Fisher kept the Pirates afloat by making 24 saves, which was only one off the school record.
Southwestern plays Whittier on Sunday at Washburn Field.
