Box Score Colorado College's first-year players made quite an impression in their first game at Washburn Field.
Bolstered by midfielder 
Tyler Borko's five goals and six points, CC's newcomers accounted for six goals and five assists in a 14-7 victory over Adams State University on Saturday afternoon.
Borko struck three times during the first quarter as the Tigers blazed their way to a 7-2 lead.
Not to be outdone, junior attackman 
Austin Davie found the net four times for the third game in a row and added a pair of assists.
Sophomore attacker 
Robert Stern netted a career-high three goals and set up another. His second tally 3:06 into the second quarter proved to be the game winner.
Goals by Borko and Davie gave Colorado College a 10-2 cushion with a little more than 10 minutes to play in the second frame.
The Grizzlies scored three of the next four markers to pull to within 11-5, but back-to-back tallies by Davie gave the Tigers an eight-point advantage 1:35 into the fourth quarter.
Sophomore midfielder 
Jackson Kaplan won 9 of 16 faceoffs, while freshman midfielder 
Parker Woo was successful on 7 of 9.

Riley Hoffman caused three turnovers and grabbed five ground balls
Senior netminder 
Chase Murphy stopped five shots during three quarters of action. Sophomore 
Brice Tucker played the final 15 minutes.
CC finished with a 51-26 advantage in total shots and a 32-25 edge in ground balls.
Seven different players scored for Adams State. Freshman midfielder Collin Cranfield led the Grizzlies with a pair of assists.
Joe Quatrochi was seven of 13 faceoffs and tied for the ASU lead with four ground balls.
Freshman goaltender Connor Johnson stopped 14 shots for the Grizzlies, who played their first official game of the season.
Colorado College, which improved to 3-0, plays host to Augustana College on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m.
