Box Score Colorado College struck for nine consecutive goals during the second half and pulled away for a 13-8 victory at Whittier College on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
The Tigers improved to 10-4 and recorded double-digit victories for the seventh year in a row. More importantly, they improved to 3-0 against teams battling for one of the four 'Pool B' berths for the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.
After tallies by seniors Jonathan Kassity and Matt Symes gave the Poets a 5-4 lead less than five minutes into the second half, the CC attack caught fire and there was nothing the Poets could do to extinguish the flames.
Sophomore attackman Robert Stern ignited the deciding run midway through the third quarter after taking a feed from freshman midfielder
Tyler Borko, and he gave Colorado College a lead they would not surrender with an unassisted goal just 71 seconds later.

Senior attacker Maxwell Jones scored twice during the final 1:44 to help the hosts close the gap.
Stern paced the attack with three goals and a pair of assists, while Neumeyer also finished with three scored. Davie and Haller found the net twice.
At the other end of the field, senior goaltender
Chase Murphy made 18 saves to reach double-figures for the ninth this season as well as the 30th time in his career.

Riley Hoffman caused a pair of turnovers.
Alex Cramer stopped 19 shots for the Poets, who slipped to 8-3. The sophomore goalie made 12 saves during the first half to keep his team within striking distance.
Borko put the Tigers on the board 2:18 into the game after taking a feed from Stern, then junior attackman
Austin Davie made it 2-0 a little more than three minutes later when he finished off Stern's second assist.
Freshman midfielder Ashton Pieris cut Whittier's deficit in half when he scored with 4:26 remaining in the first quarter, but CC freshman attacker
Drew Wiseman beat Cramer as time expired.
The Poets pulled to within a point when Kassity scored the first of his two goals 1:21 into the second quarter.
Colorado College stretched its lead to 4-2 when senior midfielder
Eric Neumeyer converted off a pass from Wiseman, only to see Whittier answer with a tally from senior midfielder Aaron Self with 4:38 to play before the break.
The Tigers now have won seven in a row against their West Region rivals.
CC will battle the Poets for possession of the Locker-Stabler Cup next Saturday night at Washburn Field.
The Locker-Stabler Cup was instituted in 2011 to honor the school's former coaches - CC's Doc Stabler and Whittier's Doug Locker - who helped bring Division III lacrosse to the West Region of the United States.
