Box Score Despite a 29-point performance from senior guard
John Hatch, the Colorado College men's basketball team dropped an 89-80 decision at the University of Texas at Tyler on Sunday afternoon.
Hatch connected on nine of 18 field-goal attempts, including three of seven shots from behind the arc, while matching his single-game scoring mark first set during last year's 72-67 victory over Centenary College.
Eric Houska scored 11 points and became the 20th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark. The senior guard also matched his season high of eight assists.
The Tigers, who were playing the second of back-to-back road games, erased a 16-point deficit in the second half.
After a layup by senior forward Melvin Anthony gave UT Tyler a 56-40 lead with 14:07 remaining in the game, the Tigers utilized a 35-19 run to level the score when Hatch hit a jumper with 2:15 to play.
On the ensuing possession, sophomore guard Davis Moore hit a three-pointer to put the Patriots ahead to stay.
Hatch sank a pair of free throws to cut CC's deficit to one with 1:38 to go, but the hosts closed out the game with an 11-3 run.

Edmund Pendleton added a season-high 11 points.
As a team, UT Tyler hit 12 of 17 three-point attempts. Colorado College was just 5-for-18 from long range.
Sophomore forward Emeka Obukwelu posted a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Patriots, who improved to 8-2.
Anthony and Moore finished with 17 points apiece for UT Tyler.
Colorado College (4-5) is idle until Thursday, Dec. 28, when it plays host to Cornell College in the Pikes Peak Holiday Classic at Reid Arena.
