Box Score Robbie Stern set career highs with eight goals and nine points to power Colorado College to a 25-4 victory over Augustana College in CC's home opener on Thursday afternoon at Washburn Field.
Stern scored six times during the first half and added two more early in the third quarter before head coach
Sean Woods gave the junior attackman the rest of the afternoon off.
Stern's nine points were the most since Jake Smith recorded 10 in a 25-2 win at Millsaps College on April 22, 2012.
Senior attackman
Austin Davie finished with four goals and four assists as Colorado College won its seventh consecutive home opener since dropping a 10-9 decision to McDaniel College on March 16, 2010.
Stern and Davie combined on CC's first three goals, but the Tigers led just 3-1 at the end of the first quarter thanks to the first of two goals from Viking junior midfielder Nick Zielinski.
Colorado College extended its lead to three goals on Stern's third goal 1:11 into the second period, and then broke the game open eight unanswered goals during the final 7:10 of the first half to take a 12-1 lead after 30 minutes.
The Tigers also got a pair of markers from senior midfielder

Ethan Moore and freshman midfielder
Coby Petau.
Sophomore midfielder
Daniel Lunghamer recorded five points with a goal and four assists, while sophomore attacker
Chris Brower set up three goals.
With CC substituting freely in the second half, first-year Tigers

Jack O'Donnell and
Ben Sommers all notched their first career goal.
Freshman
Andrew Harwood played the first 30 minutes and improved to 3-0 in goal. Freshman
Skylar Whinery played the third period, while sophomore
Henry Hinds stopped one shot during the final 15 minutes.
Sophomore midfielder
Parker Woo won 11 of 13 face-offs and led Colorado College with seven ground balls. Junior defender
Riley Hoffman forced four Augustana turnovers.
Sophomore Jeremiah Heredia finished with 12 saves during the first 30 minutes. Junior Jake Ellis stopped eight saves during the third quarter, while freshman Tommy Angelos played the last 15 minutes and made five saves.
CC compiled a 49-12 advantage in total shots and 48-23 edge in ground balls.
Colorado College's 25 goals were the most since a 26-0 victory over Centenary College on April 12, 2014. During that game, Stephen Petersilge recorded nine points on six goals and three assists.
The Tigers play host to Berry College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
