Box Score Chris Berchok struck for four goals as Berry College escaped Washburn Field with a 9-5 victory over Colorado College on Saturday afternoon.
Berchok gave the Vikings the lead with his first tally 1:25 into the second quarter and sealed BC's first victory over CC with two goals in the fourth.
The Tigers led 2-0 after freshman midfielder
Coby Petau and sophomore midfielder
Aaron Maslow scored during the opening 5:15, but squandered an opportunity to take a much larger lead by committing four unforced turnovers.
Unfortunately, that was a harbinger of what was to come for Colorado College.
Berry tied the game with markers from sophomores Andrew Elgin and McKinley Gannon, and after Berchok's first two goals, took a 5-2 lead on shot by senior attacker Quentin Johnson.
CC appeared to gain some momentum heading into halftime when sophomore midfielder
Tom Haller scored with 38 seconds to go, then sophomore midfielder
Parker Woo won the opening draw of the second half, picked up the ground ball and scored to pull the Tigers to within a goal just 14 seconds into the third quarter.
The Vikings steadied the ship with goals by Hudson Harris and Jason Willhelm before Colorado College sophomore attackman
Chris Brower struck for his team's final goal late in the third period.
In addition to his goal, Woo won 12 of 17 face-offs for the Tigers.
Berry went 2-for-4 with an extra man, while CC was scoreless on all three of its opportunities.
Freshman goaltender
Andrew Harwood stopped 10 shots, while sophomore Henry Hinds made one save during the final 1:35 for Colorado College.
The Vikings finished with a 42-38 edge in total shots, while CC had a 38-29 advantage in ground balls.
Freshman goaltender Riley Brogdon finished with 10 saves for Berry, which improved to 3-1.
Colorado College (3-1) returns to action on Friday, March 3, against Eastern University.
