Box Score Junior midfielder
Tyler Borko struck for a career-high seven goals to power Colorado College to an 18-14 victory over Williams College on Friday afternoon at Washburn Field.
Borko recorded a natural hat trick during the first half when the Tigers built what appeared to be a commanding 6-1 lead, but his first two goals of the second half may have been the most important.
Fueled by an un-releasable penalty that sparked a 6-0 run, the Ephs took their first lead at 8-7 when senior attacker James McFarland scored the second of his three goals with 1:51 remaining in the first half.
After junior midfielder
Aaron Maslow leveled the score at 9-9 just 36 seconds before the break, Borko scored an unassisted marker 1:20 into the second half when he picked up the rebound of a shot off the stick of senior attacker
Robbie Stern.
With 61 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Borko answered a Williams' man-up goal with his fifth of the game to give CC a 13-11 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Ephs pulled to within 15-14 when sophomore attacker Kevin Stump scored with 7:52 to play and had a chance to tie the game on a shot by freshman midfielder Jared Strauss, but sophomore goaltender
Andrew Harwood made the save and sent a clearing pass to
Max Rieser.
The sophomore midfielder dodged a Williams defender and launched a shot from the middle of the slot that beat sophomore goaltender George Peele and gave the Tigers a 16-14 cushion.
Borko sealed the victory with a pair of goals during the final 1:45.
