Colorado College secured a spot in the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference tournament with a 18-2 victory at Centenary College on Sunday.
The Tigers, who improved to 2-0 in conference play, earned the top seed in the South Division. Southwestern University will be the second seed, while the two qualifiers from the North Division are still to be dtermined.
CC received goals from 11 different players against the Gents, while 15 recorded at least a point.
Declan Maguire,
Max Carneal and
Kevin Somerville led the Tigers with three goals apiece.
Maguire recorded his third consecutive hat trick and fourth of the season during the first quarter when Colorado College dashed to an 8-0 lead.
Somerville scored the first three goals of his career during the first half, the last of which gave the Tigers a 14-0 lead after 30 minutes.
Carneal struck for a pair of goals during the second quarter then completed his first career hat trick early in the fourth quarter.
Kyle Komi put Centenary on the board with 8:05 remaining in the third quarter to make the score 14-1, and Jordan Cook closed out the scoring with 9:13 remaining in the game.
Junior goaltender
Pat Mahoney made a pair of saves during the first half to earn the victory in goal.
Cam Devlin stopped three shots while playing the final 30 minutes.
CC won 29 of 24 faceoffs and compiled a 29-10 edge in ground balls.
The Tigers finished with a 36-12 advantage in total shots, including a 24-7 margin in shots on goal. Â

Colorado College Standouts
Charlie Harrington won all seven of his faceoffs and picked up three ground balls.
Winston Chodnicki scored a goal and led the Tigers with four ground balls.

Ethan Little produced four caused turnovers and picked up a pair of ground balls.
Jason Turner made four saves for the Gents.

Colorado College plays its final home game of the season on Saturday, April 16, when the Tigers play host to Whittier College in the renewal of the Locker-Stabler Cup at 1 p.m. on Washburn Field.
