Junior goaltender
Pat Mahoney made a career-high 17 saves while
Makay Hansen and
Declan Maguire each produced four goals and an assist to lead CC to 19-14 victory over the Pirates.

After Southwestern whittled the Tigers' nine-goal third-quarter lead to 15-12, Maguire and Hansen struck for two scores apiece during a 4-1 run that put Colorado College back in control.

Maguire's unassisted tally came seven seconds after Southwestern pulled to within three, and following Cody Foster's man-up goal for the Pirates, Maguire set up Hansen's marker that ignited a pivotal 3-0 run.

Charlie Rainer's second goal gave the Tigers what appeared to be a commanding 13-4 lead 1:35 into the second half, but Southwestern seized the momentum and ran off five consecutive markers before Maguire scored to give CC a 14-9 lead.

Tommy Saueressig scored for the Pirates with 25 seconds to go in the third quarter, then
Cody Foster cut the Colorado College lead to three for the first time 1:55 into the fourth. Â

The Tigers won 25 of 36 faceoffs and finished with a 48-26 advantage in ground balls.

The Tigers' five-goal victory was the second closest in series history. The narrowest score was CC's 13-10 victory in the championship game of the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament on April 28 at the University of Dallas.

Colorado College had won by double digits in 12 of the previous 17 meetings, including a 31-11 margin in last year's SCAC Championship game at Washburn Field.

Ryan Trapasso went 16-for-19 at the dot and picked up a game-high 10 ground balls.
