Colorado College seniors
Kendall Havill and
Devon Ortman received illustrious recognition as All-Americans by the Intercollegiate Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, announced on Friday. Havill was named to the second team, while Ortman received third-team recognition.
Havill earned her second-straight All-American honor after being named a third-team selection last season. Ortman earned her first and is the 13th player in program history to be named an All-American. The pair was foundational to CC's Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament run, a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and a 16-6 record.
Both Havill and Ortman are not resting on their laurels. They are set to continue their collegiate careers at the DI level next season. Havill will join the University of Colorado, while Ortman will compete for the Golden Eagles of Marquette. Both will be in pursuit of their MBAs.
Havill caps one of the most historic seasons in program history, becoming the first player since Steph Kelly (2016, 17, 18) to have multiple All-American honors. The Bainbridge, MA native capped her career holding the CC records for most goals and points in a single season. She racked up 94 goals, 22 assists, and 115 points.
"I am very happy for and proud of Kendall's accomplishments she achieved in the two years she competed with us," head coach
Susan Stuart said. "Kendall's work ethic is one of the best I have ever seen working tirelessly on her physical and mental game as well as countless hours of film."
She surpassed the single-season goals record in the final game of the regular season, a 22-2 win over UW-Stevens Point, where Havill dished out five goals. She scored in nearly every game this season, including nine occasions with five goals or more.
Havill also set the program record for most goals in a single game on March 16th against No. 16 University of Chicago after she found the back of the net nine times, surpassing her own record of eight, set the year prior. Havill had three games this season with eight or more goals, obviously the most ever in program history.
Defensively, Havill was significantly impactful, finishing third on the team with 23 caused turnovers and fourth with 36 ground balls.
Ortman, the Oakland, CA native, will finish second all-time in program history in career ground balls with 278. She became the second player ever at CC to surpass 100 draw controls in a season, joining only Steph Kelly. Ortman finished her senior campaign with 114, tied for third-most in the CC record books.
She led the team with 52 ground balls, the 14th most in a single season in program history. She finished her Tiger career with 124 and is the 24th player in program history to reach 100 career ground balls.
Despite playing on the defensive side of the pitch, Ortman was fourth on the team in points (55), fifth in goals (33) and fourth in assists (22).
"Having Devon on the field is like having an on field coach at all times," Stuart said. "She is an amazing leader and her knowledge of the game and situational awareness is really high level. I am so happy and proud of her for this accomplishment. I know she is heading to Marquette and can bring that same level of leadership and skill in to their program."
Havil and Ortman led CC to being the fifth-best scoring offense in the nation, averaging 17.45 goals per game.
