The Colorado College men's lacrosse team hits the road for the first time this season with a double-header between Kenyon College and John Carroll University in Ohio. CC will travel first to Gambier, OH, to battle the Owls on Friday at 1:30 pm MT.
CC's game against John Carroll was initially scheduled for Sunday, but due to inclement weather, the contest has been moved to Saturday at 6:30 pm MT. The game will be played inside Krenzler Field,the insulated soccer field for Cleveland State.
Last Tme Out
The Tigers started the season 2-0 for the first time since 2021 with wins over Rhodes College and Hope College. CC routed Rhodes 21-12 on Sunday in the season opener, where sophomore Matt Hudson led the team with five goals, followed by Braydon Elli,s who racked up four.
Freshman Max Vota had quite the debut. The Folsom, Calif. native dished three goals and two assists. He also grabbed three ground balls and finished with 10 shots.
The following day, against Hope, Hudson led the scoring efforts again, dishing three goals to give him eight on the season. Hudson tallied four points with an assist with his seven shots and three ground balls.
Goaltender Jackson Lesher collected a career-high 14 saves and played all 60 minutes in the cage.
Leading The Way
Hudson leads the team with eight goals and three assists. The sophomore was second on the team in total points.
Vota follows with five goals through only two games and has also tallied three assists. The freshman leads the team with 17 shots. Sophomore Nick Johnson leads the team with five assists. Defensively, junior Roman Tacelli leads the team with five caused turnovers.
Scouting The Opposition
Kenyon College enters Friday with a 1-0 record after winning its season opener against Transylvania 18-9 last weekend. The Owls put up five goals in the second, third and fourth quarter and limited the Pioneers to only eight goals off 33 shots.
John Carroll's game on Saturday will be its season opener. Last season the Blue Streaks finished the season with an 11-5 record and made it to the NCAA Tournament. JCU won the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament before falling to the University of Scranton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
