The Colorado College men's lacrosse team kicks off the 2025 season against Rhodes College at Washburn Field on Sunday, Feb. 8.
CC enters the year after finishing the 2024 season with an 8-6 record, including 3-2 at home. The Tigers return three of its five-point leaders from last year and a plethora of young talent that is expected to contribute across the field.
Returning Fire Power
Sophomore attackman
Matt Hudson returns after leading all first-year players at CC last season with 39 goals, six assists and 45 points. The Edina, MN native was second in goals and shots (90). He was second on the team with a shot percentage 43.4 (minimum 20 shots).
Junior
Braydon Ellis was third on the team in 2024 with 24 goals and fourth with 29 points. Junior attacker
Charlie Faldi returns for his senior campaign after finishing 2024 fifth on the team with 10 goals and 26 points. He was second on the team with 16 assists.
Sophomore
Nick Johnson returns after dishing out 18 assists last season (fourth on the team). He finished his first year in Colorado Springs with nine goals and 18 points.
In The Net
CC has four goaltenders on its roster entering the season. Junior
Robert Spence is the oldest of the quartet. The Medfield, Mass. native played in two games and logged 10 minutes in the cage. Sophomore
Quinn Kelly played in two games and made four saves during his freshman campaign.
Junior transfer
Jimmy Van Metre spent the 2024 season at Division I Hofstra in New York. Originally from Kenilworth, Ill. Van Metre won the 2021 ISHA State Championship and set the school record for Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH, for saves in a season (227).
Jackson Lesher is the only freshman goaltender on the roster. The Mill Valley, Calif native was named a 2024 USA Lacrosse High School All-American.
At The Helm
Head coach
Mike Horowitz enters his fourth season at the helm of the Tigers. The Muhlenberg graduate has accumulated a 24-22 record in Colorado Springs and is seeking his third straight winning season.
Assistant Joe Loppolo enters his second season as the Tigers' full-time assistant coach. The New Rochelle, N.Y. native spent his graduate assistant years at Aurora University in Illinois before becoming the offensive coordinator at FDU-Florham.
Scouting The Opposition
CC will start the season against Rhodes College and Hope College. The Lynx and Flying Dutchman played on Saturday at Washburn Field, with Rhodes winning 15-7.
Senior Drew Downes leads the team with five goals and three assists. The Atlanta, GA, native led the team with 55 goals and 64 points last season.
CC will battle Rhodes at noon MT on Sunday and then face Hope College at Washburn Field on Monday at 6 p.m.
