Fourth Year Under Sanchez
Head coach
Keri Sanchez enters her fourth season at Colorado College after being named the eighth head coach in the history of the school's Division I women's soccer program in December of 2021.
CC finished the 2024 season with an 8-9-3 record, the most wins since 2019. The Tigers had a home record of 7-1-3, the most wins at Stewart since 2019, and the best home win percentage since 2014 (77.2). Sanchez led CC to its first-ever City For Champions Cup victory with a -1 victory over Air Force on Oct. 30 to end the year on a three-game winning streak.
Sanchez's roster consisted of 21 players named to the Academic All-Mountain West Team. The 21 players are the third most in program history and were tied for the highest amount of any women's soccer program that year.
Assistant coaches
Chris Dodd,
Kelsey Brouwer and Frankie LaManna return for their second year in Colorado Springs. Dodd and Brouwer joined in the summer of 2024, while LaManna came aboard after the start of the season.
Last Time Out
CC kicked off the season with an exhibition against the Buffs of the University of Colorado on Aug. 7th. CU won the contest 2-0 after 75 minutes of scoreless soccer that saw the Tigers put up a valiant fight against the Big 12 powerhouse.
The Tigers' last regular season contest saw them lift the City For Champions Cup trophy after a 2-1 defeat of Air Force. It was the lone road win of last season for CC as it went 0-7 in games away from Colorado Springs.
Tiger Tails
CC returns three of its top five scorers from last season, including junior
Kendall Memoly,
Kylie Smith, and sophomore Finley Scheonbeck, who combined for 26 points, 12 goals, and three assists. Memoly and Schoenbeck tied for second on the team with 11 points each.
The pair, along with junior goalkeeper
Regan Wallace, were named to the Mountain West Watch List.
Wallace returns for her third year in net for the Tigers, having started 19 games last year as a sophomore. The Rancho Cucamonga native made 75 saves, the fifth most in the conference, and had a save percentage of .753. She recorded a career-high six shutouts, the fifth most among all Mountain West goalkeepers.
CC is 5-5 in its last 10 season openers, with the most recent win coming in 2022 against UC-Santa Barbara on the road.
Thursday is the first of eight non-conference slates for the Tigers before their conference opener on Sept. 25. Three of the first four games this year for CC are on the road. Sunday, it will host the University of Denver at 1 p.m. at Stewart Field.
Scouting The Aggies
The Aggies were able to return 22 players from last year's roster and tacked on nine newcomers. One of the key returners is goalkeeper Valerie Guha, who had a solid 2024 season that included a Conference USA Goalie of the Week award against Gonzaga on Sept. 12.
NM State finished third in the CUSA regular season standings with a record of five wins, two losses, and two ties. They advanced to the CUSA semi-finals, where they fell to Liberty in the final minutes of play.
