Last Time Out
The Tigers opened the season with a 2-1 victory over New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M.
Junior forward
Kendall Memoly recorded her first career brace with two goals in the first half to give CC its first win of the year.
CC outshot NM State 10-6 as Memoly led the way with four shots, followed by junior
Tyler Rose, who had two and an assist. Rose, along with sophomore transfer
Nadia Cassamajor, assisted on Memoly's first goal at the 16th-minute mark.
The Aggies knotted the game in the 24th minute, only for Memoly to put CC in front again only two minutes later.
Goalkeeper
Regan Wallace allowed only one goal and made one save in the winning effort.
Tiger Tails
Memoly was expected to have another prominent season as a scorer for the Tigers: the Laguna Hills, Calif. native was second on the team in 2024 with 11 points. She's nearly gotten half of her goal total from last year with the two goals against the Aggies.
Cassamajor collected her first point as a Tiger. The Bridgewater, Mass. native fed Memoly with a beautiful one-touch pass after Rose found her on the offensive side of the field. Cassamajor finished with 67 minutes played in her first start in the black and gold.
Five other players made their CC debut. Junior transfer
Eden Palkovic, along with Cassamajor and first-year players
Sophia Mayne and
Lily Smith, started on Thursday evening. Freshman
Taylor Mentink and junior transfer
Pressly Taylor came off the bench and combined for 77 minutes.
The win on Thursday is CC's first true road win since Oct. 19, 2023, when the Tigers downed San Jose State 2-1. Last year, they went 0-7 on the road before defeating the Air Force Academy at Weidner Field in the City For Champions Cup.
CC returns to where they felt most comfortable last year. It went an outstanding 7-1-3 at Stewart Field, the best home win percentage since the 2014 season.
Scouting The Opposition
DU defeated Air Force 2-1 on Thursday behind two goals from redshirt senior Samantha Dreiling. The Pioneers and Falcons battled to a scoreless first half, but DU struck first in the 62nd minute and again in the 81st minute to seal the victory.
The Falcons outshot the Pioneers 19-14, but goalkeeper Alina Santos made four saves.
Last season, Denver defeated the Tigers 2-0 on Sept. 1 in the Mile High City. In the previous five matchups, CC holds a 3-1-1 record against DU, including three consecutive victories from 2014-18.
