Tigers Bounce Bulldogs, Hudson Becomes Modern Era Goal Leader

Box Score

Colorado College responded in a big way Saturday afternoon, rolling past DeSales, 21-8, to bounce back after its six-game winning streak was snapped earlier in the week.

The Tigers wasted no time setting the tone, scoring seven goals in the opening quarter and never relinquishing control. CC added four goals in the second and six more in the third to build a commanding lead heading into the final period.

Senior Matt Hudson led the offensive charge with five goals and one assist, while senior Aidan Niklaus orchestrated the attack with a career-high seven points on two goals and five assists. Senior Gavin Pope added five points of his own with three goals and two assists, and sophomore Liam Goodwin chipped in two goals and two assists. With his five-goal performance, Hudson surpassed the program's modern era career goals record, giving him 109 for his career (2000–present).

CC showcased its depth throughout the contest, finishing with 13 assists on 21 goals and getting contributions from multiple players. Junior Logan Chapman added two goals, while first career goals were recorded by sophomore Tim Browne and sophomore Trevor Flynn.

Defensively, senior Robert Spence anchored the Tigers with 14 saves in the win, while CC held DeSales to just eight goals on 35 shots.

The Tigers dominated possession and tempo, outshooting DeSales 53-35 and holding a 35-18 advantage in ground balls. CC also controlled the faceoff battle, winning 21-of-32 attempts, led by senior Trevor Mackles, who went 9-of-16 at the X.

CC was sharp in transition, clearing the ball at an efficient 23-for-26 clip, including a perfect 3-for-3 effort in the fourth quarter to maintain control late. Defensively, the Tigers limited DeSales to just 20-for-23 on clears.

The Tigers also forced 24 DeSales turnovers while committing just 16 of their own, creating a +8 turnover margin. CC added eight caused turnovers and held DeSales to just five goals over the final three quarters, including just one goal in the third, as the defense tightened its grip on the game.

CC moved to 7-2 on the season and got its sixth win in the last seven games. The Tigers will take on Sewanee in Georgetown, Texas on Saturday, March 28th.
