Iler and Niklaus Sweep WIAC Weekly Awards

Colorado College earned a sweep of WIAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors as junior Charlotte Iler was named Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Sofia Niklaus collected Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced.

The award marks the first of the season for Iler and the first career weekly honor for Niklaus.

Iler powered the Tigers' offense in a 2-0 weekend to open WIAC play, totaling 11 points on seven goals and four assists while placing 13 shots on goal. The junior attack recorded three goals and one assist in a win over the College of Saint Benedict on March 27 before erupting for four goals and three assists at Hamline on March 28. Over the weekend, Iler also surpassed the 200-point mark for her career.

Niklaus anchored the Tigers defensively while also contributing on the offensive end. The freshman midfielder caused eight turnovers across the two games, including three against Saint Benedict and a career-high five at Hamline. She added three ground balls and three draw controls over the weekend. Offensively, Niklaus scored a career-high three goals in each game, finishing with seven total points.

Colorado College returns to action this week as WIAC play continues.
