Tigers to Host Rhodes in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

For the 14th time in program history, the Colorado College women's lacrosse team is heading to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament and will host Rhodes College in the second round.

After winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and earning the conference's automatic bid, the Tigers are in the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. They will host Rhodes on Sunday, May 10, at 1 p.m. (MT). The Tigers and Lynx have first-round byes and will square off in the second round at Washburn Field.

CC, ranked 25th in the country, is 13-13 all-time in the tournament following last season's second-round loss to Pomona-Pitzer. The Tigers will look to make another run after a trip to the Sweet 16 after doing so in 2024. Two wins against Aurora and Chicago propelled CC before ultimately falling to the eventual national champion, Middlebury.

The Tigers are 15-3 and completed their third consecutive unbeaten slate in the WIAC under first-year head coach AJ Johnson. CC defeated UW-River Falls, 22-8, in the WIAC final on Sunday.

CC has two top-25 wins this season against No. 16 St. John Fisher and No. 20 University of Chicago, both in overtime. It has won 11 games in a row and went undefeated in conference play for the third consecutive year.

"We are ecstatic to host for the first time since 2019," Johnson said. "We have had great success here on Washburn and now to finally play in front of our friends and families will be that much more fulfilling. We have grown so much throughout the season and are ready to keep moving forward."

Rhodes recently won the Southern Athletic Association Tournament title after downing Sewanee, 16-9, in the championship game. The Lynx carry a 15-3 record into the national tournament.
