Tigers Open SCAC Action at TLU on Saturday

The Colorado College volleyball team opens play in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) on Saturday, Sept. 26, with a match against Texas Lutheran in Seguin, Texas, beginning at 12 pm CT.

Last Time Out
CC went 3-0 last weekend at the Calvin Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich. The Tigers defeated SUNY Cortland, 3-0, Otterbein, who was receiving votes in the AVCA poll, 3-1, and 16th-ranked UW-Whitewater, 3-1. Colorado College is 8-1 this season, its best start since 2021.

Tigers Enter AVCA National Rankings
After their undefeated weekend in Michigan, the Tigers entered the AVCA national poll for the first time this season, debuting at No. 23.

SCAC Weekly Awards
Colorado College took two of the three SCAC Volleyball Player of the Week awards as Annie Joo was named Setter of the Week for the third consecutive week and Camille Sherrill was selected as Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Joo, a senior from San Jose, Calif., led the Tigers with 130 assists and had at least 40 in each match to help CC extend its winning streak to seven matches with the undefeated weekend. She had 49 in a four-set victory over Otterbein, then had 41 in a 3-1 upset win over 16th-ranked UW-Whitewater. She also had 30 digs, 10 kills, four blocks and three aces during the weekend.
 
Joo leads all of Division III averaging 10.69 assists per set.
 
Sherrill, a senior from Missoula, Mont., was just as impressive for the Tigers last weekend. She paced the team with 44 kills, including a season-high 18 in the upset over 16th-ranked UW-Whitewater. The outside hitter added 16 kills against Otterbein, led CC with five aces and finished second on the team with 43 digs, including a season-high 18 vs. Otterbein.

Scouting The Opposition
Texas Lutheran is 6-4 this season after falling to Southwestern University, 3-0, on Tuesday.

CC continues conference play with three matches next weekend in Irving, Texas. The Tigers will battle Centenary and LeTourneau on Saturday, Oct. 3, and Austin College on Sunday, Oct. 4.
