Three former Tigers named to Team USA roster

Clarke, Salcido and Sertich to play in Deutschland Cup

Tiger Hockey will be well represented at the 2011 Deutschland Cup next month.

USA Hockey has announced the roster for its Select Team that will compete at the tournament scheduled for Nov. 11-13 in Munich, Germany, and among the 21 players named were former Colorado College standouts Noah Clarke, Brian Salcido and Marty Sertich.

All three, like their other 18 teammates-to-be, currently are participating in elite European professional leagues.

The Deutschland Cup has been held every year since 1987 and will feature teams from Germany, Slovakia and Switzerland in addition to the United States. Team USA has participated on six previous occasions (2002-05, 2007, 2009). The Americans won the tournament in 2003 and 2004, garnered second-place finishes in 2007 and 2009, and finished third in 2005.

The 32-year-old Clark, who graduated from CC in 2003 after collecting 176 points (63g,113a) during his four-year collegiate career, currently skates for Munich EHC in the German DEL league. The swift left winger from La Verne, Calif., appeared in 21 National Hockey League games with the Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils before taking his talents to Europe in 2008, and previously participated in the Deutschland Cup in 2009.

Salcido, a 26-year-old defenseman from Hermosa Beach, Calif., toiled at the Colorado College blue line for three seasons (2003-06) before signing a pro contract with the NHL's Anaheim Ducks organization prior to his senior year. He played in two games for the Ducks while spending most of the next four campaigns (2006-10) in the American Hockey League, and currently is in his second year with SaiPa Lappeenranta of the SM-liiga league in Finland.

Sertich, 29, is in his second season with Olten of the Swiss B league. He won the Hobey Baker Memorial Award as a junior in 2004-05, when he helped the Tigers reach the NCAA Fozen Four in Columbus, Ohio. He also spent four seasons (2006-10) in the AHL before heading oversees a year and a half ago. The All-America center compiled 182 career points (61g,121a) in 166 games for CC.

Team USA, under the tutelage of head coach Don Waddell and assistants Chris Chelios and Bill Guerin, meets Slovakia on Nov. 11, Switzerland on Nov. 12 and Germany on Nov. 13 in Deutschland Cup competition.
