The Colorado College volleyball team continued its early-season success in Friday night, posting three-set victories over the University of Wisconsin-Stout and George Fox University on the opening day of the Molten Volleyball Colorado College Invitational at CC's Reid Gymnasium.
Sophomore outside hitter
Emily Perkins had 12 kills while posting a .529 hitting percentage as the Tigers began the day with a 25-12, 25-9, 25-19 victory over UW-Stout.
Colorado College had a season-high 12 service aces, including four by sophomore defensive specialist
Kate Weig.
Junior middle blocker
Erika Pirotte had a hand in four of CC's seven blocks as the Tigers held the Blue Devils to a -.046 team hitting percentage.
Senior middle hitter Maggie Meixl had six kills and a pair of blocks to pace UW-Stout.
Senior outside hitter
Anna Clithero had 10 kills and seven digs as CC defeated handed George Fox its first loss of the season by a score of 25-21, 25-18, 26-24.
Weig had six service aces and Pirotte had five blocks.
Junior outside hitter Lindsay Hovee had nine kills and 12 digs to lead the Bruins.
In its first match, GFU knocked the University of Texas Dallas from the ranks of the undefeated with a 25-17, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22 victory.
Hovee posted a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs, while junior outside hitter Jennifer Panico added 14 kills.
UTD defeated UW-Stout 25-18, 25-18, 25-7 in the first match of the day.
The tournament will continue on Saturday at 11 a.m. when the Tigers play host to UT-Dallas. CC has already earned a spot in the championship match, which is scheduled for 5 p.m.
