Colorado College earned a measure of revenge for last year's loss to Connecticut College by defeating the Camels, 17-9, on Monday night in Claremont, Calif.
“This was a perfect example of what this team can do when it plays hard for 60 minutes,” head coach
Susan Stuart said. “If we would have played like that against Claremont, it wouldn't have been a game.”
Kristin Rider tied her season high with five goals and set up another score, while
Grace Maloney registered a season-high seven points on four goals and three assists.
Ali Zarlengo scored a career-high three goals, while Gioia Garden and Maggie Defanti struck for two apiece.
Claire Preston had another impressive game at the defensive end, leading the Tigers with four ground balls while winning two draw controls and causing a pair of turnovers. Kristin Rider added three ground balls, two draw controls and caused two turnovers.
Jess Van Doren made nine saves while going the distance in goal.
“It was a great to see that kind of effort at both ends of the field.” Stuart said. “We looked really good.”
Colorado College (5-1) begins a five-game home stand on Wednesday afternoon when the Tigers play host to Denison University at 4 p.m.
